GORDON COUNTY, Ga. — A Gordon County man has been arrested on drug trafficking and weapons charges after deputies responding to a shooting discovered a large stash of methamphetamine and dozens of firearms inside his home.
According to Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Rock Creek Road on the afternoon of Friday, October 17, after receiving a report that a woman at the home had suffered a gunshot wound. Authorities said the woman’s injury was non-life-threatening.
As detectives investigated the incident, they discovered a large quantity of illicit methamphetamine and more than 60 illegally held firearms inside the residence.
The homeowner, Marty Worley, 54, of 269 Rock Creek Road, was arrested at the scene and charged with drug trafficking and weapons violations. Sheriff Ralston said Worley remains in the Gordon County Jail pending bond.
Officials said the woman who was shot has not cooperated with investigators and remains hospitalized.
“Our deputies and investigators acted quickly and professionally under serious circumstances,” Sheriff Ralston said in a statement. “This investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests or charges are expected.”
The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office and its narcotics unit are continuing to investigate the source of the drugs and firearms.
