Four people arrested on kidnapping charges are out on bond. Dylan Lee Lamar Deas, Stanford Manuel Deas, Vanessa Elizabeth Harden, and William Gage Deas face charges ranging from aggravated assault to kidnapping in a case that happened over July 4 at the Love Travel Station off of Union Grove Road in Calhoun.
According to the incident report, the incident occurred on July 2 and reported on July 4. Brian Watson, of Oregon, contacted the Calhoun Police Department to report that he was assaulted at Love’s Travel Stop located at 1081 Belwood Road at 1:15 in the afternoon and the incident was recorded by the gas station’s security cameras. Officer Wilkerson watched the video where he saw Watson sitting in his tractor-trailer cab when a white pickup truck pulled up in front of him. Vanessa Harden stepped out of the truck and when Watson approached him and they began talking. A moment later, a silver four-door car pulled up behind Harden’s truck. William Deas and Stanford Deas got out of the vehicle. Standford Deas allegedly attacked Watson.
Watson tried to walk away, but Standford Deas followed him while William Deas went into Watson’s truck and grabbed an item. Harden left the scene in her truck. When Watson tried to enter his truck, William Deas shut the door and Stanford Deas allegedly hit Watson hard enough to knock him down. Dylan Deas gets out of the car and helps the other two men get Watson into the car. Dylan Deas climbs in the truck for a moment.
They allegedly leave and return at 2 p.m. when William Deas takes Watson’s truck and leaves.
Watson told officers that he and Harden had been dating and were supposed to meet at Love’s to go on vacation. He told officers his injuries included a large cut above his left eye, a broken jaw, teeth loosened and possibly broken ribs. He also told officers that the three men threatened to kill him if he did not give them the key to his truck and that the men also took $75 out of his wallet. After his truck was taken, Watson told officers he was driven around for about four hours when he was brought to America’s Best Value Inn in Dalton and throw into a room. His belongings from the truck were allegedly there.
Harden told officers when interviewed that Watson had threatened her family and Stanford Deas who drives for her.
The Calhoun Police Department continues to investigate this incident.
